EasyEdit simplifies configuration editing. This section describes how to use the filter, sort and edit and manipulate each column and cell.

It is applicable for all System Architect items.

Standard Windows Edit Functionality

Common short cuts can be used for Cut, Copy, Paste, Undo and Redo, Find and Replace.

Editable fields are entered with the return key or a double click on the field.

Direct Edit Mode

A different method to edit is Direct Edit.

Instead of using a selection table the user can edit the information directly.

This method is only recommended for already existing entries and for experienced users.

It is applicable for Wiring, Routes, Route Groups and Relay Groups.

Switch on the Direct Edit mode with a right mouse click on the selected item.

Once the mode is on (each column must be switched on/off separately), double click on the required line and edit.

To switch off the Direct Edit mode just right click on the selected item again.

Switch Modules

The Switch Modules tab shows three separate filters. On the left side any entered string does filter the module list.

The given 40-11 matches with 5 out of 1498 items.

Instead of scrolling the whole list for finding the right module, just enter the product number partially or full.

The right side shows two filters applicable for the complete switch module table. The fixed filter does filter as described.

The string filter searches for matches in all columns.

The given rel145 founds 8 out 25 items.

Delete clears the filter and shows all items.

Each column can be sorted by clicking on the header: down or up sorting is possible, a third click returns to the default order.

Endpoints

The Endpoint tab use the same filtering method. The given y is filtering 4 connector leads out of 136 of mx540 Module1 (mx540 is a 132x4 Matrix, therefore 136 leads in total).

With the Columns Configurator the table can be customized by adding or removing (visible/invisible) shown columns.

To open and close the configurator click on  The settings can be stored under user profiles and will be stored and reloaded with the project.

Press <All> to count the total amount of items of the configuration.

To avoid extensive editing use Auto-Fill Endpoints to fill undefined endpoints in a selected area.

It takes the connector information and converts it to an endpoint name. Only empty fields will be overwritten.

Clear clears the all selected endpoint names.

For copying the content of one or multiple fields, use CTRL-C to copy it to the clipboard, place the cursor on to the target field and use CTRL-V to paste it.

If the field content ends with a number, click on the right corner and drag the field from top to bottom. The number will increase automatically.

Dragging the field with the ALT button pressed will decrease the number. If there is no number at the end, the fields are just copied.

For deleting the content of one or multiple fields, select the field(s) and press the delete button.

Filtering on Wiring and Routes

The filtering method shown below helps to find a dedicated pin out of many very quickly:

select the module where the pin should be

select either all pins, pins with endpoints or pins without endpoints

and finally: use a matching string to find a small amount of items to choose.

applicable for columns From Pin, To Pin within the Wiring tab

applicable for columns From, To within the Routes tab

In the below example the filter is set to show Non-Endpoints of Module3 of all matrices mx540 and counts 136 out of 1088 items.

Use the Pin Name option to select the most convenient pin name info to be displayed.

Filtering on Route Groups

The filtering method shown below helps to find a dedicated route out of many very quickly:

Use the fixed filter All, selected [+] or unselected [-] and type in a matching string.

Filtering on Relay Groups

The filtering method shown below helps to find a dedicated relay out of many very quickly:

The example shows the fixed filter set to All with total number of 4880 available relays in that configuration.

By entering a matching string into the item filter any huge number of available relays can be reduced.
