SPM provides a Short Circuit Detection.

In a mixed switching configuration where all types of relays (single throw, double throw, multi throw, single pole, multi pole, normally closed or normally open contacts) are used, the auto router might get in conflict with already interconnected signals which are rather connected by their type than by the router.

If the below red route will be switched after the blue route then the double pole relay will be closed and will short the Y1 bus from the left matrix with the Y1 bus on the right matrix.

When connecting the green route, the short circuit detection of SPM takes place and either does not connect or finds a route on a non occupied Y bus line, i.e. Y3.

Another example:

System I and System II are interconnected through a normally closed relay.

If a route has been created from A to B, an additional route from C to D would short both routes - the short circuit detection avoids this.

Changing Option Short Circuit Detection

Warning: Disabling the short detection can increase routing performance, but could also end up in shorted signals, therefore use the option disable capability very carefully.

Select the SPM IDE Tools Menu Settings...

Open the Measurement Center Switching Options

A double click in the shown mode value provides 3 options which can be selected.

With the option Manually Turn On/Off the mode is changeable on the fly with the API functions

SPM_Switch_SetShortCircuitDetection

SPM_Switch_GetShortCircuitDetection

When launching the SPM Engine the Mode is always On.
